Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 15
KILL. NOW.
Well, it was apparent that after all the ass-kicking Nightmare action in the last episode, this was going to be an “Answer episode.” With those, however, you just get more questions with your answers, and that’s exactly what I got this time around. While a lot of it might be the fact that it’s really tough for me to follow the plots of a lot of Real Robot shows and have to have someone explain it to me a bit for me to fully grasp it (i.e. It took three more years after Gundam Wing ended airing to read up on the things and find out the whole political issues…even though I was like 10 at the time), to me this was a bit more confusing than normal.

Lelouch found the program for the weapon “Homing Laser”
Lelouch made a pretty cool (if not over the top) use of his Geass her, even if I’m still wondering if that was a bomb he threw up, or he just somehow knew the sky was made of little bits an pieces of reflective material. Of course, he wastes the opportunity to use his Geass to find out about Marianne’s death, which I’m sure was done intentionally so that it would make a good explanation to the final few episodes. Then all of a sudden he goes apeshit over killing him. Um, wasn’t this your objective? I mean, sure he was your dad and all, but if the guy’s doesn’t see you guys as anything other than tools, (in?)directly responsible for the deaths of people for the sake of conquest, and also happens to send you and your sister to a far away place as a political hostage while also conquering the place and having the entire royal family assume your dead, it’s okay to have a speck of respect, but at least be crying happily at your accomplishment.
Muda muda muda muda muda!
Of course, Charles doesn’t die, and Lelouch can’t Geass him (though, considering he just did use it on him, I’m not too surprised at the result, just the execution). Charles mentions that all of Lelouch’s planned out strategies won’t work, which is the strongest weapon Lelouch has; I’m beginning to wonder if this eventually means Lelouch will actually fight directly a lot more, especially since the Shinkurou is a lot more agile than the Gawain. Charles holds up his hand, showing that the Geass sigil has been embedded on it, and that he has a new weapon to replace his Geass.
Checking up on V.V. situation, C.C. is revealed to have found him, and we’re taken back to the time where V.V. made his contract with Charles, which is somehow in the remains of a burning village and from the looks of it, they were the ones who caused it. V.V. also states that he will accept that fate…which sounds like that he is actually dying. C.C. also makes a comment that he liked Marianne, which totally threw me off because last episode he raged once Jeremiah uttered her name, plus it seemed like he wanted to kill Lelouch because he was Marianne’s child (he mentioned he liked Lelouch slightly because he looked like Charles, but he could’ve said that to any of his children and got away with it).
Charles starts talking about why Lelouch lies, that his true self isn’t like this, and that he’s afraid to have people know who he really is. There’s a hint of what he is really like when C.C. tells him he is too gentle of a person when he reveals her scheme of things: to die. From what’s understandable to me, it appears that whoever has the sigil of Geass is counted as the succeeder and thus is able to kill the person who previously had it. The people who had it before are immortal and the bestowers of Geass, though for now we don’t know if Charles can do so or not (if he does, he might outfit several of the Knight of Rounds with it, potentially even Suzaku). C.C. contracted Lelouch to do it, but now that Charles has it, she no longer needs him. After C.C. sends him away, she asks why Charles took away his Code, which he brushes off by doing the old “You’re going to die anyway, what’s the point, hyuk hyuk?” So that’s what the “Code” in Code Geass is for! -_-
Moralfag remembers his morals.
Back in faggot land, Suzaku tries to use Refrain on Kallen, but in the one moment where being a moral fag actually is good, he follows the cliche of not being like the “villain” and using his methods, though Lelouch never ever hit a woman in order to do so, proving Lelouch is indeed superior. Random C mentioned that this might increase Suzaku’s chance of dying at the end of the series. I certainly hope so, though I’m sure they’re going to do some last minute thing to make him sympathetic. Or maybe he’ll actually RAGE enough to not be a moralfag anymore.
Nunally’s starting to grasp around the lies around her too (I’d say Nunnally’s been studying some Avatar character to do the same, but had to modify the technique a smidge ). Using her hand to feel lies, she refuses the redevelopment plan of the Saitama Ghetto due to it still having disadvantages for Elevens, and when she tries to use it to get Suzaku to tell her the truth (after mirroring a similar statement Lelouch made to her early last season) about the phone call, his withdrawal makes her point out that Suzaku is the same as Lelouch in that he is hiding things from her. I’m interested in seeing how she’ll react when the truth eventually hits.
Viletta:
NaruKeitaro! Ohgi! Omae wa suki!
And of course, they finally touch upon the whole Ohgi-Viletta relationship once again. Viletta questions Ohgi’s confession, states she doesn’t love him, but after being attacked by Sayoko-sensei’s shuriken attack and having Ohgi take the hit, she dives off to save him, faced with a rocky death…of course they’ll survive, but this happened all too quick and I wished it was focused more.
Not exactly the sparkling eyes image I expected, but at least your clothes are off!
Lelouch is sent to a scene of C.C.’s mind and meets up with a version of her to guide him through her past: she was outcast and dirty before she met a nun who is marked with a Code on her forehead, much like C.C. is. The nun contracted C.C. with a Geass that would make anyone love her, because being loved is what C.C. had always been seeking. She lavished this gift at first, but eventually realized it was all the Geass’ work and that besides the nun, whose effects it didn’t work on, could show any genuine care for her. However, when C.C.’s Geass reached a certain level, the nun used her as a tool for carrying on the Code and to end her life. This left C.C. bleeding next to the altar and the nun’s Code disappering from her forehead at death.

“Witness the creation of your new brother!”
Knowing C.C.’s high regard for him, Lelouch somehow opens the Thought Elevator back into Sword of Akasha, ending up back in the Shinkurou. He now knows that this place interferes with thought, thus the freaky mind games (though now I’m not sure if the mind games only happened after Charles made the freaky masks appear, or if he really only was in the Shinkurou the whole time). Charles traps him with giant pyramid caps, and proceeds to rape kill C.C., with some freaky light glowing as it happens. Lelouch calls out to C.C., accusing her of pitying him when she never used him to die and pass on the Code, and proclaiming that he’ll be the one to make her smile as she dies, so she shouldn’t die in this situation with her current face. C.C. rejects Charles at the last minute and frees Lelouch, who tells Charles that he won’t let him take away anything from him anymore. He fires upon the Sword of Akasha, and when C.C. goes flying from the destruction, he picks her up while telling her that he knows her Geass power and her true wish.
Quattro Bagina!? Liquid!?
Nina’s been fixing up her bomb. With the tests complete, Nina states that the wars will change, with Schneizel saying something about Domacles. Things most likely are about to get troublesome again: we know that Schneizel’s been after the throne for a while now, and I don’t see his ambitions ever really being directed towards Zero. As nice as he is in stopping Nina from going berserk about Euphemia, it’s clear he’s just using her scientific knowledge for his own gain. I’m expecting Nina might eventually die because of him too.
;_;…o.o… ^w^
Lelouch and C.C. are transported back, but C.C. has lost her memory of what’s happened, of knowing Lelouch, etc. She instead reverts to a scared servant-like demeanor and judging from her mannerisms, it’s back when many people weren’t required to read. Lelouch can do nothing but look on with a shocked look on his face.
Again, we’re finally given a good amount of answers about C.C., but there’s still the most important thing we don’t know: her communication with Marianne. And now, maybe because of the earlier things with Charles, she’s now lost her memory, thinking Lelouch is her master, and the Code on her head is now gone. Maybe one doesn’t actually die by passing it on, just makes one mortal again. Whatever the case, I’ll go ahead and add C.C. to the “People I expect to die” list. It could potentially set up the KallenXLelouch relationship to be in the ending.
Ah and Lelouch. What Charles said might become a key factor later, with him saying that Lelouch wants people to “Realize his true self.” I wouldn’t really say it’s the start of changing his character (I’d say it’d be when Shirley gave him the “LOVE AND PEACE” speech and didn’t force the Tian Zi marriage was when he started changing), and he’s always thought of the people close to him to be important, but it could mean no more lies from here on out (except for Rolo, he still needs to die after what happened to Shirley), and could potentially explain to Suzaku the truth about Euphemia’s death, if Suzaku actually tries to listen. As far as the Geass always promising a life of solitude, I wonder if he’ll be able to change that now since C.C. is no longer his contractor (not now at least). Even so, here he displays even more that C.C. is important to him as well, despite denying it briefly. If she dies, it’ll be a great loss, but it may be necessary. I’m also wondering if by then Lelouch will also have a constant Geass in his right eye as well like C.C. did at the time.
Next episode, Cornelia in bondage! Lelouch might finally start by explaining the truth of Euphemia’s death to Cornelia first, and ask her to join the Rebellion against Charles, which she might agree to because of Bartley’s comment about Charles ending the world with his plan. Also, the Knight of Round member is coming, Luciano Brandli. From that shot, he looks a little pissed off (or shocked) at Kallen. If he does anything to my Kallen, he better die too.
I just realized my shots are the same as RandomC’s, but with subs. Coincidence! o.o
…I ca- *whack*
